Howie the Harp

I just finished filming recovery videos in New York City last week. We shot about 36 videos of people telling stories of recovery after a diagnosis of first episode psychosis. I was very impressed at the large number of video participants who had graduated from the Howie T. Harp Peer Advocacy and Training Center.

The Peer Advocacy and Training Center was named after a legendary ex-patient activist and innovator named Howie The Harp. I only met Howie a handful times before his untimely passing. But his genius and generous heart lives on through the Peer Advocacy and Training Center in NYC. The Center and the people whose lives are transformed there is a fitting tribute to Howie's legacy.

Here is a rare piece of video footage showing Howie in action in NYC. Enjoy!
