Why I Created CommonGround - 3 of 5

The third reason I created CommonGround has 2 parts to it. First, we are in an historic window of opportunity. Old paper records are being converted to digital electronic medical records (EMRs). Too often, these EMRs reflect old school medical model practices with disease orientation and symptom reduction as the focus. CommonGround reverses this trend by introducing a person centered, recovery-oriented health record. Is there a place for the emerging peer workforce in this new digital healthcare world?  I believe the answer is an unequivocal YES. CommonGround creates a new career path and specialized skill sets for peer staff which will keep us very much in demand within the workforce.
