I’m Darlene Holmes and I am originally from Evanston, IL and moved to Virginia in 1999 to improve the quality of my life.
I earned a B.A. in Sociology and began to work in this field. It wasn’t much longer after I graduated, that I began having severe symptoms of Depression and Anxiety. After extensive therapy and helpful medications, my mental health and substance use improved significantly over the years.
I currently work for Laurie Mitchell Empowerment and Career Center and The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance as a facilitator of Wellness and Support groups.
While tending to a serious physical health diagnosis, I inadvertently let my Certification expire and I am seeking to become re-certified as a CPRS.
I truly believe that this field of work is my absolute calling in life. I hope to continue to bring hope and empowerment to my peers as part of my recovery journey, assisting peers through my education, such as this training, and learned skills, to improve their journey of recovery.
