My name is Mindy and I am a person in long term recovery from a mental health and a substance use disorder. I recently celebrated my 25th year in recovery and I am extremely grateful for all of the love and support of the recovery community. I have a long work history in the behavioral system including but not limited to overseeing peer support, employment, housing, and community transitions programs.
My knowledge and experience about recovery, behavioral health, and Personal Medicine comes from my own lived experience, helping others on their personal paths of recovery, education in a doctoral program, and experience as an adjunct psychology professor. I have traveled across the US presenting and educating others about recovery.
Three values that I try to operate under are freedom of choice, resiliency, and authenticity. I know for myself, if authenticity is not a part of my moment to moment existence, I struggle with my personal medicine and interactions with others.
I am excited about being a Certified Personal Medicine Coach because we all need to do a better job empowering individuals to make decisions about their own recovery. As individuals in recovery, we know what is best for ourselves and have the right to make the decisions that work best for ourselves. Personal Medicine is a foundational tool and empowering others how to find their own is an exciting possibility. I think that is the principle I like most, empowering others.
