I have been working in the field of community mental health since 1997, when as a social work student, I have worked with a consumer's pioneer organization in Israel. Since then, I continued to work through the recovery paradigm with people in the community in various settings, and now as an independent worker. As part of my professional identity, I also consider my personal experience with mental health difficulties, and those of my close family and friends. Over the past decade I also work with ISPRA, the Israeli association for psychiatric rehabilitation. At the beginning of my career, I first encountered the writings of Patricia Deegan, and each time I read her articles or watch her speak I feel inspired by her wisdom and her human clear way of bringing her wisdom to others. Becoming a CPMC is an opportunity to adopt a framework that encompasses the different dimensions of my personal-professional identity, including the values and principles of a recovery-oriented relationships with clients and colleagues and also with myself.
