My name is Tonya L. Henderson. I am the Lead Program Coordinator for Recovery Program Solutions of Virginia (RPSV) located in Annandale Va. Prior to coming to RPSV I worked for New Hope Housing for many years as a Shelter Service Specialist.
I have been a Peer Recovery Specialist now for 9 months and have enjoyed every bit of this journey thus far. While I also hold a BA in Psychology in which I obtained in May 2019.
I was born in Alexandria Virginia and raised in the Del Ray section of Alexandria.
I have suffered from depression for many years and continue to strive towards my recovery. I enjoy the outdoors, being around water and nature helps relax my mind. I have always had a passion to help others although it took time for me to realize in order to help others I must make myself the first priority.
I became a CPMC to stay on track with my recovery goals. Honestly, I don’t know everything and I continue to gain knowledge from other peers to better help myself and others along the way. Going forward “keep hope alive always”!
